ind-roller
This is a steel embossing roller used for producing rubber textured broadloom matting hence the surface pattern which you may see as a moire effect on a computer screen.
It is about 13 feet long and 4 feet in diameter, sat on a filthy factory floor in Lancashire England. The clients, BYC Rollermakers, wanted  an A4/4 page brochure in need of a dynamic cover shot so,  after some very tricky lighting arrangements, this was shot on a 5X4” Sinar, 90 mm. lens taking full advantage of camera movements for depth of field, and it became the cover shot.
